Journal of the Membership Meetings
The March 10, 2009 meeting of the Delhi Township Veterans Association was called to order by
Commander Osterfeld at 7:30 p.m.
Commander Osterfeld welcomed all present and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
The roll call of the officers was held and a quorum was established. There were 27 members and
guests at the meeting.
Secretary Lefler read the Journal of the Minutes from last January’s meeting. There was a motion for
the Journal of the Minutes for January to be approved. The motion was 2nd and passed. The Journal
was filed.
There were no bills that were announced and passed.
The treasurer’s report was read, approved and filed for audit.
Correspondence:
Green Twp VFW Post 10308 flyer for their annual dinner at the Nathaniel Greene Lodge on
March 26, please make reservations by March 20. Tickets $20/person
Air Force made and announcement combat medal for airmen.
Biggs: has us as one of the charities in their 6th Sense. Person brings in their own reusable bag
for groceries. The person is given a wooden token and 6 cents is taken off their bill. The token then can
be deposited in one of the charities slot up at Biggs. The fundraiser will last until June.
Delhi Citizens’ Police Associations Golf Outing at Aston Oaks Golf Course May 11, 2009. Shotgun
start 12:00. Foursome play $360.00, Individual Play $90.00, Dinner only $20.00. Dinner after the golf.

Old Business:
a. Lapel pin—Commander asked if any member who is entitled for a pin needed a lapel pin.
b. M1 Ceremonial Rifles arriving soon and announcement that Jay Hepp will be custodian of the
ceremonial rifles.
c. Need members for Color Guard and Honor Guard.
d. Motion to make Member Mike Kelsch Commander of the Color and Honor Guard. Motioned by
member Jay Hepp and 2nd by 2nd Vice Cmdr Kleiner. Motion passed.
New Business
a. 2nd Vice Cmdr Kleiner gave report on his progress on getting a Shuttle bus for the Memorial Day
ceremony. He is still obtaining information on this issue.
b. Commander Osterfeld is trying to obtain a speaker for the Memorial Day Ceremony
c. Liability Insurance: Treasurer Burke had an estimate for $700/yr and 2nd Vice Commander
Kleiner had an estimate for $165/yr both covering 1 million in liability.
d. Park Benches: Trustee Chisholm was absent and no report was made.
e. Purple Heart Forever Stamp an article about the Post Office doing away with this stamp. Vice
Commander Armstrong to solicit the Delhi Township Board of Trustees in endorsing this issue. The
DTVA will then gather petition to help create a Purple Heart Forever Stamp.
f. Delhi Twp Police Canine Program. Motion by Gary Cox and 2nd by member Kelsch to donate the
Split the Pot fund of not more than $100 to the Delhi Twp Police in support of the care of the police dog
being obtained by the Delhi Police. Motion Passed.
g. 25th Anniversary of the Vietnam Veteran Memorial at Eden Park: Saturday April 4, 2009. DTVA
will gather at 2:00pm at the Delhi Senior/Community Center as a group to attend the ceremony at 3:
00pm
h. American Legion 534 Hall is having Fish Fry every Friday during Lent. Dinners $6.50 for adults
and $3.50 for children.
i. June 27, Saturday 8-12pm American Legion Hall Dance-$15/person—canned beer, pop, pretzels,
DJ is BJ Music, raffle tickets will be sold.
j. 4th annual “Let us Never Forget” Fundraiser. Tickets $50 each. April 9, 2009 7pm at the Oasis
Conference Center. Reservations by March 20.
Motion was made and 2nd and passed to adjourn.
Meeting ended at 8:30.
