Journal of the Membership Meetings
The March 9, 2010 meeting of the Delhi Township Veterans Association was called to order by Commander
Osterfeld at 7:30 p.m.
Commander Osterfeld welcomed all present and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
The roll call of the officers was held and a quorum was established. Roll call of officers taken: and all were
present. There were 34 members and guests at the meeting.
Secretary Lefler read the Journal of the Minutes from last January and February’s meeting. There was a motion
for the Journal of the Minutes for January and February to be approved. The motion was 2nd and passed. The
Journal was filed.
There was 0 bills. The treasurer’s report was read, approved and filed for audit.
Correspondence and announcements: VFW 10380 Dinner at the Nathanial Greene Lodge March 25 6-10pm and
dinner being served at 7pm.
Hall of Honor Military Display March 27 1pm at the Green Hills Community Center. The DTVA will have a display.
Guest Speaker: Shekar Jayaraman liaison with the Oh. Sec. of State office made a presentation.
Old Business:
Sweetheart Swing Dance was held Feb. 13, 2010 at the Farm. The DTVA made a profit of $1619. Special
acknowledgement to Donna Cox for working the match box raffle and to Robert Gardner for making and donating 3
clocks to raffle.
Chili-Fest- Chairman Trustee Howard Brinkdoepke gave an updated report and asked for volunteers to work
the event. The reports stated that chili is being made for 1000.
New Business:
Standing Resolution: 2010-01 to amend our Constitution to create different membership plans. The resolution
was read and will stand until next meeting.
Mike Bender announced that he reserved the American Legion Hall for a DTVA dance on June 26, 2010 from
8pm-12am. Tickets $15/ticket or $25 for a couple. Snacks, Beer, Pop, Pretzels and Chips. Music with a DJ will be
varied. Raffles and Split the Pot.
Commander Osterfeld suggested a Committee to inspect the Veteran Park and report.
Commander Osterfeld reported that the Stolen Valor Act is being challenged on the basis that it violates the 1st
Amendment rights of Freedom of Speech.
Member Dave Swenson suggested having a “Surviving Disasters” presentation.
Motion was made and 2nd and passed to adjourn.
