The November 11, 2008 meeting of the Delhi Township Veterans Association was called to order by
Commander Osterfeld at 7:30 p.m.
Commander Osterfeld welcomed all present and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. In
recognition of Veterans Day a moment of silence for veterans that came before us.
The roll call of the officers was held and a quorum was established.
There were 27 members present. A new member Rob Gardner introduced himself.
There was a motion for the Journal of the minutes for October to be approved. The motion was 2nd
and passed. The Journal was filed.
There were no bills that were announced and passed.
The treasurer’s report was read, approved and filed for audit.
Announcements:
Member Jim Carr’s wife passed away.
Socks and clothing for the homeless veterans were being collected by Trustee Bender
Old Business:
a. American Legion Post will commemorate Pearl Harbor Day at the Anderson Ferry on December 7.
Doors open at 9am at the Legion Hall.
b. Park benches may be built by the scouts for eagle badge, however the scout may need more than
the park bench for the project. Katie to get with Sandy Monahan.
c. December 6 – Delhi Christmas Parade (usually starts around 9am) Meet at St. Dominic Church at
8:30 am. Replica of the USS CINCINNATI will participate.
d. December 9 – Christmas Party – at regular meeting. Spouses are welcome. More information to
follow.
e. Proud to be Veteran T-Shirts from American Legion Magazine. 2nd Vice Commander Kleiner had a
large left over and he needed a medium.
f. Color Guard for the Christmas parade and Pearl Hrbor Day
g. Vice Commander Armstrong spotted a cannon from WWI on Rt. 8 in Kentucky. Sandy Monahan
approves of getting the cannon---investigate if we can get the cannon.
h. Veterans’ Day Ceremony was held Sunday, Noon, November 9, 2008. It was our 1st Anniversary of
the Memorial. Crowd estimated at around 150 with media coverage from Channels 5, 9 & 12.
i. Standing Resolution 2008-002 passes. Resolution clarifies our purpose of organizing to meet the
requirement to get ceremonial guns.
New Business.
a. Sisters of Charity gave an article about the Wall of Honor.
b. Golden Coral from 4:30-9 on Monday November 17 free meal for veterans.
c. After our general meeting Commander wanted to have a brief Board Meeting to discuss about the
prospect of a fundraiser with the Delhi Business on Valentine’s Day at The Farm.
d. Magnetic Signs to place on our cars for events. Trustee Bender investigated and noted that it will
cost $80 for a set of magnetic signs for the car doors.
e. A motion to spend up to $100 for magnetic signs was made by Jay Hepp and seconded by Mike
Bender. Motion passes.
Split the pot of $100 was raffled.
Motion was made and 2nd and passed to adjourn.
