Journal of the Membership Meetings

  
The November 10, 2009 meeting of the Delhi Township Veterans Association was called to order by Commander
Osterfeld at 7:30 p.m. at the Delhi Fire Headquarters.

  Commander Osterfeld welcomed all present and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

  The roll call of the officers was held and a quorum was established.  Roll call of officers taken: and all were present.
There were 27 members and guests at the meeting.
   
  Secretary Lefler read the Journal of the Minutes from last October’s meeting. There was a motion for the Journal of
the Minutes for October to be approved.  The motion was 2nd and passed. The Journal was filed.
  There was 1 bill. The invoice from Schott Monument for the engraving of the names for the amount of $3500. Gary
Cox motioned to pay invoice and Mike Bender 2nd the motion. Membership approved paying the invoice.
  The treasurer’s report was read, approved and filed for audit.   

Correspondence and announcements: Thank you card from Pat Murray for the raffle of the quilt that she was
sponsoring.
Ohio Secretary of State’s Certificate of Commendation to the DTVA
Governor’s proclamation of Veterans Day.

Peter Schanz from Reform America gave a presentation to the membership. The topic was how the Unites States
needs to be more independent on foreign oil and what the means to the military.

Old Business:
       Veterans Day Ceremony: there was a crowd of 300. A complaint was made that the Color Guard needs to be
presented first in the program and they were not. And that this is a ceremony and not a fundraiser and we should not
have raffles at the ceremony. A review of the Ceremony will be conducted at the Board meeting on November 24 and
other discussion will be tables until then.

New Business:
       November 11 the Veterans Buffet dinner at the Bayley Place Wellness Center. A table for the POW MIA will be
set up. Split-the–Pot will be conducted at the dinner and the DTVA will receive half the proceeds.
       December 5th-Delhi Christmas Parade. The DTVA will participate. AA sign up sheet was passed to members for
anyone wishing to march in the parade. The parade begins at 9:30am and goes from Robben Lane to Del-Fair
Shopping center. For those that cannot ride there will be a car to drive down the parade.
       December 6th –Pearl Harbor Day. Sponsored by the American Legion 534. Assemble at 9:30am for breakfast,
Flag retirement at 10:30, then throwing the wreath is at11:30am
       Mike Bender made a statement that members that have a complaint should bring it before the membership first
before going to the press; so that the complaint can be addressed.
       WWII Anti-tank Gun on display at the Veteran Memorial Park has cracks in the tires. This issue will be looked
into.
       H Evan’s wife passed away. Send a card.

The Secretary presented the membership with a proclamation to make Jean Fraiquin an honorary member of the
DTVA. Jean Fraiquin maintains the gravesite of Clarence Fischesser in the Netherlands. Gary Cox made a motion to
approve and accept the proclamation. It was seconded and membership approved without dissention.

Motion was made and 2nd and passed to adjourn.
